Mining Senior Mining Engineer / Alternate Underground Manager

My client is a successful Western Australian mining producer with a large portfolio of underground and open pit gold projects across WA. They are currently seeking an experienced Senior Mining Engineer/Alternate Underground Manager to join their dynamic team. As a Senior Mining Engineer, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing various aspects of their mining operations, ensuring optimal efficiency, safety, and productivity.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of mining engineers, providing guidance, mentorship, and support.
  • Develop and implement mining strategies, plans, and designs to optimize production and resource extraction.
  • Conduct feasibility studies, mine planning, and ore reserve estimation to determine project viability and profitability.
  • Monitor and analyze mining operations, identifying areas for improvement and implementing innovative solutions.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless coordination between departments, such as geology, geotechnical engineering, environmental, and health and safety.
  • Develop and enforce safety protocols, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and company policies.
  • Oversee mine production schedules, budgets, and cost control measures to achieve operational targets.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, promoting best practices and innovative technologies within the mining engineering team.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering
  • Proven experience working as a Mining Engineer within underground operations
  • Strong knowledge of mining principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proficient in using mining software including Deswik desirable
  • Excellent leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others.
  • Current Underground Mine Manager’s ticket
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to ethical and sustainable mining practices.
